About the

Float Review

Will K and Jackson T have each spent over two decades (23 and 21 years, respectively) installing floating dock systems across a wide range of environments. From tranquil ponds and inlets to large-scale events and even the world’s largest indoor lake, there is virtually no body of water we haven’t worked with.

Since the mid-to-late 1990s, we have watched the floating dock industry evolve from unstable, wobbly systems to high-performance, reliable solutions that remain steady even in the roughest conditions. With years of hands-on experience, we have developed a comprehensive understanding of what works and what does not in the world of floating docks.

Throughout this time, our discussions with clients consistently revealed a significant gap in the understanding, availability, and performance of floating dock systems. Many people, even after purchasing, were still surprised by the true capabilities of their docks. In fact, this was true for eight out of every ten installations we encountered.

Our goal is to share this knowledge and help bridge the gap between what people expect and what floating dock systems can actually do. Whether you are looking to buy, upgrade, or simply learn more about floating docks, we strive to provide clear, unbiased information to help you make an informed decision.

The Aha Moment
(how it happened)

Like many others during the pandemic, it gave us time to consider and plan. As we kept up on floating dock tech and accessories, we became even more aware that non-brand affiliated floating dock insight and guidance was very difficult to find.
A call with a long-term client changed everything. Claire reached out to me (Will) in 2022 shortly after the virtual Toronto Boat Show to ask for a new dock recommendation. That chat ended with her request that we create a site with our advice. I thanked her and didn’t think much of it.

A week later, Claire’s son James called me for his upcoming dock plans. The following day I enlisted Jack to begin a year of research. After which, our part time off-season marketing jobs turned into
